I think the main advantage of family business is that it has a relatively simple hierarchy, and therefore its more capable of reacting quickly in the case of a crisis. I mean, usually thehead of the family is also the head of the business, and when that person makes the final call, its pretty much indisputable. This is obviously more efficient than having a bunch of shareholders debating for hours at a meeting. But the disadvantage of family business is also very obvious, and its that the interest of the family is sometimes unaligned with the interest of the business. Imagine if a family member needed some money, right, so he or she took the money from the business account, then the business would be short on funds. So I just think that you have to be really careful on how to manage the family business in order to make it succeed.
