In evaluating the argument, it would be most useful to determine which of the following?Investigating which of the following would be most useful in choosing between the competing explanations described above?Which of the following would it be most useful to determine in evaluating the argument?
看一下這幾種問法的相似之處,無一例外都是讓我們通過選項(xiàng)給出的信息去幫原文做決定,也就是說,讓我們?cè)u(píng)價(jià)原文的結(jié)論是不是對(duì)的,或者推理是否合理。這就是評(píng)價(jià)題最重要的特點(diǎn)了:把選項(xiàng)納入條件范疇,去評(píng)價(jià)原文的推理過程或結(jié)果。
怎樣才能有效的評(píng)價(jià)?
既然讓我們?nèi)ピu(píng)價(jià)原文,那么一定是選項(xiàng)會(huì)對(duì)原文是否成立產(chǎn)生影響,也就是說,選項(xiàng)取不同的答案,會(huì)影響到原文邏輯鏈的達(dá)成情況;因此解題思路也就顯而易見了:對(duì)選項(xiàng)去不同的答案,看它會(huì)不會(huì)對(duì)原文邏輯鏈產(chǎn)生不同的影響。
舉個(gè)例子:
In many scientific disciplines, scientists generally do not do highly creative work beyond the age of forty, a tendency that has normally been taken to show thataging carries with it a loss of creative capacity. However, by the age of forty most scientists have been working in their chosen field for at least fifteen years, so an alternative explanation is that spending too long in a single field reduces the opportunity for creative thought.Investigating which of the following would be most useful in choosing between the competing explanations described above?
A. Whether among those scientists who do highly creative work beyond age forty a large proportion entered their field at a considerably later age than is commonB. 這道題是一道評(píng)價(jià)題里面相對(duì)簡單的題目,主要探討的是科學(xué)家很少在40歲之后做出creative work的原因,給出了兩種可能,一種是因?yàn)閍ging,一種是因?yàn)樵谝粋€(gè)領(lǐng)域呆太久所以失去創(chuàng)造力,簡化一下邏輯鏈:
40之后很少creative---aging---spending too long
讓我們?cè)u(píng)價(jià)的就是上面的論述,也就是說看哪個(gè)選項(xiàng)能夠幫我們知道究竟是因?yàn)槟膫€(gè)原因。
這個(gè)題目通過選項(xiàng)相關(guān)性就可以直接排除掉BCDE四個(gè)選項(xiàng)了:
B.研究項(xiàng)目的選擇,無關(guān)
C.其他活動(dòng),無關(guān)
D.Funding愿意給誰錢,無關(guān)
E.不同領(lǐng)域是否年齡不同,無關(guān)
那么A為什么能夠評(píng)價(jià)呢?應(yīng)用一下我們的方法,對(duì)A取不同的答案:
A說的是High Creative的里面是不是一大部分很晚才進(jìn)入這個(gè)領(lǐng)域,如果答案取是,就說明沒有spend too long的就能有creative,即選擇了第二個(gè)解釋;如果打啊取否,不是,就說明不是第二個(gè)原因,即選擇了第一個(gè)解釋。因此A確實(shí)是可以幫我們做出判斷的。
